Learn Greek for everyday communication, travel, or personal enrichment. This course develops speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills while introducing students to Greek culture, customs, and traditions. It is available for all levels, with learners receiving outcomes and progress appropriate to their current proficiency. By completing the course, students gain confidence to interact in real-life situations. Learners aiming for language certificates such as Ellinomatheia can also receive optional guidance and practice within the course.
Students learn the fundamentals of Greek, focusing on pronunciation, basic grammar, and essential vocabulary. They start to understand everyday life, customs, and traditions of Greeks. By the end of this level, learners can handle simple communication in routine situations such as exchanging personal information, talking about daily activities and hobbies, shopping, ordering at restaurants, asking for directions, and basic travel or service interactions. Learners can also prepare for the A1 and A2 Ellinomatheia exams if desired.
Students expand their communicative abilities to handle a wider range of everyday and social situations, including work, school, travel, health, entertainment, and discussions on social phenomena (e.g., environment, technology, unemployment). B1 learners can exchange more detailed personal information, express opinions, feelings, and plans, and communicate politely in formal or informal contexts. B2 learners can understand complex texts, distinguish different language styles, produce clear, detailed communication on a variety of topics, and interact fluently with native speakers.
C1 learners can communicate fluently and clearly in demanding social, academic, and professional situations, discussing complex topics such as current affairs, politics, ethics, or environmental issues. They understand nuanced spoken and written language, use extended vocabulary, idiomatic expressions, and adapt language to different communicative contexts while being aware of Greek and Cypriot cultural specifics. C2 learners reach near-native competence, able to communicate on any subject with precision and spontaneity, distinguish formal, colloquial, and dialectal forms, and understand historical, metaphorical, and cultural aspects of the Greek language.
